Wild Steer Racing Playlist

Yes, this popular WRCA ranch rodeo event can be entertaining when the action goes a bit wild. But that is due to the nature of these young cattle, who are not domesticated and therefore not used to being handled by humans.

Every animal has its own personality, and all ranch teams have a combination of skills that create a wide range of what happens when you put the two together. WRCA rules call for a calf to be started with a rope around the neck inside a buckin chute so the team can use the rest of the rope to maintain control of the calf when the gate is opened.

There are two lines drawn across the arena, and the calf must be mounted before reaching the first line and then be ridden across the second line. If the rider falls off before the second line, the team must return to the first line and start over again. There is a two-minute time limit to complete a qualified ride, and the time to cross the second line determines the team score for that event. A failure to complete results in a no-score for the team in that event.

Dusty Reins Schedule

You may see several events on the same day. I can only pick one to go next depending on where I was located during the prior event I attended. Fuel is expensive these days!
