American Heartlands & Dusty Reins Stories
Crazy Horse Monument

The First Americans playlist above contains videos featuring Native Americans. Much of the content is my own work but I have also included videos from other sources I think you might find useful if you want to discover more about the indigenous people of North America and their history and culture.

I am always looking for opportunities to capture stories of the people and communities with long ties to the indigenous people of the Americas. The people I refer to as The First Americans. The playlist above includes informative videos from other sources in addition to my own and is listed from the most recent to the oldest. I am including some samples below.

I worked with Hody "Longbow" Porterfield during the years he was working at the Big Texan Steak Ranch and then at the Elkins Ranch. I wish I had recorded some of his oral history during those days. But I do have some samples of him at work teaching others about The First Americans. Here is an example:

I have also worked with Ron Parker who is a great-grandson of the Commanche Chief Quanah Parker. I was privileged to have been invited to a Parker family gathering at Mule Creek which is near the site where Quanah's mother, Cynthia Ann Parker, was "rescued" from the Comanches by Texas Rangers. I documented two days of events at the gathering. Here is a sample of the opening evening.

Here is a sample of the Indian dancing at the Indian Village in Cheyenne, Wyoming during the Cheyenne Frontier Days. <- Clicking the link will show you more of the dancing videos.

I would love to hear from you if you have ties to this rich heritage. Please Contact Us!

Dusty Reins Schedule

You may see several events on the same day. I can only pick one to go next depending on where I was located during the prior event I attended. Fuel is expensive these days!
