If you want a real 1890s feel and an authentic celebration, join us! Tom Horn Days is centered around three action-packed days of rodeo. And not the kind of rodeo you are used to. This event is a pasture rodeo where no events are held in the usual controlled arena (except barrel racing). Instead, rain or shine, cowboys take to the open prairie where both horses, steers, and cowboys can showcase their full range of motion and ability, making this a truly spectacular event. - from Travel Wyoming
This rodeo series was endorsed by WRCA for its rich ranching heritage, and I love open-pasture rodeos. So, I had to check it out, and glad I did! I am just getting started publishing videos every Friday, which I will include on this page, along with photos. The three-day celebration began on Friday August 16, 2024 with Barrel Racing, Flag Racing, and Goat Tying for the young bucaroos held in an arena near the ranch headquarters.
The host ranch is located near Bosler, Wyoming, and it lies along the concurrent U.S. Routes 30 and 287 north of the city of Laramie, the county seat of Albany County.
Friday Events
Barrel Racing
By this time, the stiff afternoon prairie wind overcame the deadcat muffler on my microphone, so I had to mute the original audio to avoid the irritation of wind noise, which also drowned out the little PA system in the video below.
Saturday Events
More coming every Friday!
